As part of the Learning Enrichment Acceleration Program (LEAP), Al Siraat is excited to be taking part in the Tournament of Minds (TOM) Challenge in 2025. The Regional Final will be held at La Trobe University in Bundoora on Saturday, 23rd August, and we will be sending four outstanding student teams from Years 7 and 8 LEAP Inquiry classes to represent the college this year, Inshallah.
For six weeks, student teams will work independently to solve the TOM Long-Term Challenge of their choice. Student teams work with the support of a Teacher Facilitator and develop their challenge solutions as a team. They will solve a difficult problem with specific rules and limited use of resources, with the goal of generating a brilliant and creative solution. On Tournament Day, students will also face a Spontaneous Challenge. This is a surprise task that tests their quick thinking and teamwork skills. It is an exciting experience that shows how well students can work together under pressure.
Tournament of Minds is not just a competition; it is a celebration of the power of teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking. Every year, many parents, teachers, and spectators come to watch the amazing presentations and ideas created by the students.
Our Year 7 and 8 LEAP students will start work very soon, and the selected four teams will attend the Regional Final on Tournament Day. We encourage every Year 7 and 8 LEAP Inquiry TOM Team to take up the challenge and bring their energy and creativity to the Tournament of Minds in 2025.
